IPL to grant certain rights to third party

Following the news from the official website of VIVO IPL 2018, The BCCI invites third party to show their interest towards acquiring the following rights in relation to the ipl, moreover these rights may be subjected to negotiation and customization as required. The term for holding the right is for minimum 3 years. They are summoned as follows :

1.        IPL Official Partner Rights, as summarized in Appendix 1,

2.        IPL Strategic Time Out Partner, as summarized in Appendix 2,

3.        IPL Umpire Partner Rights, as summarized in Appendix 3.

With reference to the rights given to the third party will be atomic in relation to each Product Category. None of the single third party is acknowledgeable for the IPL Official Partner, IPL Strategic Time Out Partner, IPL Umpire Partner Rights but each can apply for more than one Product Category. Keeping in notice that the rights given to third party will be conditional according to the binding of the agreement with BCCI.

Third party which wishes to buy the rights need to proceed with an EoI with the disclaimer that “Neither BCCI nor its officers, employees and/or agents shall, in any circumstances whatsoever, be responsible or liable in any manner or mode by whatever name called or described for any costs, liability, losses, damages or expenses of any kind whatsoever incurred or suffered in connection with this document or as a consequence of the preparation or delivery of any EoI”.

Although the BCCI will reserve the unfettered right not to grant any or all of the Rights at any without giving any reasons, Interested third parties (including but not limited to a marketing agency) wishing to acquire any of the Rights should make an Expression of Interest in the manner prescribed below.

Each EoI should:

  • contain the full name and address of the relevant third party,
  • indicate which of the Right/s the third party is interested in acquiring,
  • indicate the Product Category or Product Categories in respect of which the third party is interested in being appointed as an IPL partner.

Marketing agencies may submit an EoI subject to the following criteria:

  • an EoI submitted by a marketing agency must be in respect of no less than 3 IPL Official Partnerships and each of the IPL Strategic Timeout and IPL Umpire Partnership Rights,
  • the marketing agency must include details of its experience in selling rights which are the same as or similar to the Rights together with its outline strategy for selling the Rights,
  • the marketing agency must have annual turnover of not less than Rs 50 crores as set out in its latest audited annual accounts for the financial year ending no earlier than 31st December 2016 and which should be delivered together with the EoI.

Third party who is wishing to acquire the rights on their own behalf do not need to comply with the above criteria for marketing agencies when submitting the EoI. The Rights and the fees to be paid for the same will be discussed after the delivery of the EoI.

From the corner of BCCI, it’s been clarified that rights will not be awarded according to the willingness of the Party or paying the highest fees. BCCI decision in this regard will depend upon certain factors including that brand or party is not demolishing the image of the brand IPL or whether it is genuine or not, which will be evaluated and examined by the BCCI in the course of negotiation with third party who submits an EoI.

Each EoI must be delivered by email to the following address: [email protected] and must be received by 5.00pm IST on 17th January 2018. Any EoIs received after this deadline will not be considered unless BCCI decides otherwise at its discretion and negotiation with third party submitting EoI’s will last till 31st January.

 

APPENDIX 1

IPL Official Partner Rights:

1.        EXCLUSIVE ASSOCIATION

  • Designation: Positioned as the Official Partner.
  • Right to use the official IPL composite logo and official partner status in all communications.
  • Category exclusivity across all central sponsorships for VIVO IPL.
  • First Right of Refusal on Broadcast Sponsorship in Product Category.

2.        TV FACING BRANDING APPLICATIONS (ACROSS ALL MATCHES)

  • LED Perimeter advertising boards.
  • Pitch Mat on the outfield at midwicket (size as per BCCI discretion).
  • Boundary Rope branding across all matches
  • Branding on all interview and press conference backdrops.
  • Logo featured on back panel of team dugouts.

3.        MATCH DAY ACTIVATION

  • 1 TV facing Match Day Activation (conceptualization in conjunction with BCCI).
  • 3 m x 3 m trade stand place in concourse area of each stadium (subject to permissions from relevant bodies and in conjunction with IPL).

4.        TICKETS AND HOSPITALITY

  • 10 x VIP Hospitality tickets per match.
  • 10 x General admission tickets per match.

5.        PROMOTIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY & ARCHIVE FOOTAGE

  • 25 still images per season.
  • 3 minutes of archive footage per season.

6.        OTHER BRANDING

  • Inclusion of partner logo in IPL led advertising.

7.        DIGITAL

  • Logo featured on IPLT20 website.
  • Match day activation integration on IPLT20 website.

TERM:

IPL Strategic Timeout Partner Rights :

1.        EXCLUSIVE ASSOCIATION

  • Designation: Positioned as the Strategic Timeout Partner.
  • Right to use the official IPL composite logo and strategic timeout partner status in all communications.
  • Category exclusivity across all central sponsorships for VIVO IPL.
  • First Right of Refusal on Broadcast Sponsorship in Product Category.

 

2.        TV FACING BRANDING APPLICATIONS (ACROSS ALL MATCHES)

  • Branded timing graphic on Big screen at each Strategic timeout.

 

3.        MATCH DAY ACTIVATION

  • 3 m x 3 m trade stand place in concourse area of each stadium (subject to permissions from relevant bodies and in conjunction with IPL).

 

4.        TICKETS AND HOSPITALITY

  • 6 x VIP Hospitality tickets per match.
  • 10 x General admission tickets per match.

 

5.        PROMOTIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY & ARCHIVE FOOTAGE

  • 10 still images per season.

 

6.        OTHER BRANDING

  • Inclusion of partner logo in IPL led advertising.

 

7.        DIGITAL

  • Logo featured on IPLT20 website.
  • Match day activation integration on IPLT20 website.

IPL Umpire Partner Rights:

1.        EXCLUSIVE ASSOCIATION

  • Designation: Positioned as the Umpire Partner.
  • Right to use the official IPL composite logo and umpire partner status in all communications.
  • Category exclusivity across all central sponsorships for VIVO IPL.
  • First Right of Refusal on Broadcast Sponsorship in Product Category.

2.        TV FACING BRANDING APPLICATIONS (ACROSS ALL MATCHES)

  • Static logo branding on LED Sight screens (50% on each sight screen)
  • Branding on Big screen for 3rd Umpire Decisions and DRS Decisions.
  • Branding on all interview and press conference backdrops.
  • Logo featured on back panel of team dugouts.
  • Logo on Umpire shirts, trousers, hat/cap.
  • Logo on Match Referee shirts and jacket.

3.        MATCH DAY ACTIVATION

  • Right to Fair Play Award
  • 3 m x 3 m trade stand place in concourse area of each stadium (subject to permissions from relevant bodies and in conjunction with IPL).

 

4.        TICKETS AND HOSPITALITY

  • 10 x VIP Hospitality tickets per match.
  • 10 x General admission tickets per match.
