“Proving the decision right also depends upon the cards and situation”. IPL Auction 2018 which ended up in a dramatized way while landing these lines with KKR squad as they have taken a tough decision this time to go with a loose bat.
The two times title-winning team KKR bumped in his strategies on the day 1 & 2 of IPL Auction and anyhow managed to bring the total of 19 in al(the least number of players in a squad of IPL). KKR franchiser brought the changes in the squad before the auction also by retaining the Sunil Narine and Andre Russell and releasing the only experienced leader in the team Gautam Gambhir. KKR whopping for the next of the players for making their squad got attracted by the younger player of Under 19(Shubman Gill, Kamlesh Nagarkoti). All of the analysts are saying right about the team strategies that they have been loose with the bat this time as they don’t have a strong bat to manage at the position of number 5 or 6 in the team. The analysis regarding the whole of the team strategies and franchiser is produced below.
The strong pillar: IPL Auction 2018 witnessed some outstanding decision for KKR in the form of Chris Lynn who was an outstanding batsman in the previous series and got the highest strike rate and he can serve as an opener for the tem with Sunil Narine or Robin Uthappa, Shubman Gill can come at the third position to score runs and keep wickets save and followed by Dinesh Kartik or Robin Uthappa and according to analysis KKR possess very good bowling side among all IPL team as KKR has Mitchell Johnson, Mitchell Starc, Vinay Kumar as a fast bowler who can uproot wickets in the powerplay and Kuldeep Yadav, Piyush Chawla, Sunil Narine can spin the bowl as well in mid of the over and can decrease the run rate of the opponent team.
The weak trench: The weak end of KKR IPL team is having no experienced leader in squad leading the important place as vacant. Robin Uthappa or Dinesh Kartik may take the place of it and the second weakest point is batting at number 6 which also makes a big question over the franchiser about the auction.
The smart bid: KKR franchiser bid smartly in buying the young star player of Under 19s Shubman Gill, who is performing consistently good in the field with the bat and making runs easily with strokes all around the ground. Secondly, buying Mitchell Starc as the performance of him is quite good in the previous sessions of the IPL.
The RTM: KKR has done a great job in securing their key player Robin Uthappa(6.4 Cr), Piyush Chawla(4.2 Cr) and Kuldeep Yadav(5.8 Cr) through RTM as they were doing great job making runs and taking wickets and there was a consistent performance from them in the year when KKR won the title.
Follow through: KKR franchisers follow through was taking Javon Searless in the squad for 30 lacs and leaving the bags empty. Javon Searles has good stats as a good bowler and batsman as he plays in the county cricket of West Indies.
The complete list of players in KKR squad: With the bag of 80 Cr KKR selected these 19 players in their squad to play in IPL 2018. For the full team list with their auction price click here.
Expected Playing XI: Chris Lynn, Robin Uthappa(c), Shubman Gill, Dinesh Kartik(wk), Nitish Rana, Andre Russell, Shivam Mavi, Mitchell Strac, Sunil Narine, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Kuldeep Yadav.
The conclusion: Franchiser have spent 12.6 Cr on buying 5 batsmen, 34.9 Cr in buying 6 bowlers, 18.7 Cr in buying 6 all-rounders, 13.8 Cr in buying 2 wicketkeepers and in total they bought 12 Indian and 7 Overseas worth 37.4 Cr and 42.6 Cr respectively.
KKR has entered into the den with the above squad and in respect of all another analyst I don’t think they will be in so much of trouble with the loose bat but there will be extreme pressure on the batsman to play good innings and make good runs every time on the field.
