Rohit Sharma: Becoming A legend of Cross Fingers

Rohit Sharma is a right-handed batsman who has been playing for the IPL team Mumbai Indian after the auction of 2011 in which he was bought for US$ 2 million and before it he was playing for IPL team Deccan Chargers since starting of the IPL tournament. Rohit is been magnificent with the bat and it must be said that it’s a promising bat ever for the Mumbai Indians as they have retained him again for the upcoming session. Rohit’s performance is been consistent over the years and is performing well in the IPL format with many bombarding innings hitting sixes and fours.

It will be worth not to mention that Rohit is the only player or captain to lead his team Mumbai Indians to win the IPL title for thrice, which is more than any other captain playing in the tournament and it is a big cap for anyone at this level. In 2011 Rohit was promoted as the skipper of the team MI and it was a tough situation for him to go through but anyhow he managed to lead the team to the finals and win the title for the first time in the IPL. For the second time, MI has beaten CSK with a margin of 41 runs and he was awarded Man of the Match in that match. At last, in 2017 MI topped the leaderboard and won the title under his captaincy.


With the bat, Rohit has gone with 154 innings scoring 4207 runs by facing 3214 balls which includes 32 fifties and 1 century with a strike rate of 130.90 securing a highest of 109* in his ipl career. He opened batting 17 times for his team and is been not out for 25 times with 9 ducks on the board. He has 172  sixes and 354 fours with an average rate of 32.61.

With the bowl, Rohit has gone with 59.2 overs conceding 475 runs and taking 15 wickets including a hat-trick with an economy rate of 8.01.Rohit’s best figures in bowling are 4/6. Rohit has taken 4 wickets in a match too.

Being a skipper Rohit has played 76 matches out of which he has 46 calculating an efficiency of 61.33% and have won the toss with an efficiency of 53.33%.



Rohit Sharma is very efficient on batting at Number 4 as he has made 2272 runs which are 54% of the total runs he has scored by playing 81 innings in which he as 13 times not out and have 18 fifties with a highest score of 87.

Rohit has played at number 3 position for 36 times and has made 817 runs including 6 50’s and 1century with the highest score of 109* on the board. He has opened the batting for the team for 17 times making 572 runs including 3 fifties with a high score of 98*.

Rohit is as good in playing with RCB, CSK, KINGS XI PUNJAB too as he has made 6,5,5 fifties respectively with the above team. Rohit Sharma has taken 71 catches in all in which he has taken 16 catches against CSK which is the highest number for him against any team in IPL.

Rohit has scored 533 runs in 2013 till date in the tournament which is the highest in any of the season played by him with MI or DC. Rohit performance with the bat was reduced to 25% in 2014 but he came back well and was consistent afterward.
